About Person Al Islaam

The name ‘Person Al-Islaam’ (a play on the phrase ‘personal islam’) is an acknowledgement of the human experience in Islam. Too often people postulate what ‘Islam says’ or what ‘Muslims do or think’. To me, this is simply politically loaded language. There is simply no such thing. Islam is a set of ideas which each individual approaches with his or her own subjectivity. Hence Islam can be utilised to articulate the most heinous ideas on the planet (Islamofascism or Jihadism) but also can be used to articulate beautiful ideologies which can propel human beings to ever higher planes of existence. Islam is far more than simply a ‘religion’. Islam is a world in itself and this blog is my commentary on the World of Islam.
